Aircraft Design & Flight Mechanics Engineer

  • Interceptor

You will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of new aircraft systems while actively participating in aircraft flight mechanics analysis and design processes.

The selected engineer will contribute to concept development and aircraft design activities, including defining mission requirements and design specifications for new aircraft, developing design alternatives that meet these requirements, and evaluating and selecting optimized configurations based on performance, aerodynamics, stability, and control.

Within the scope of flight mechanics, the engineer will perform stability and control analyses, develop and evaluate control and trim strategies, and support the validation and improvement of flight mechanics analysis methods.

The role will also involve the development of software tools and computational methods required for engineering analyses, as well as active participation in aircraft design and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis processes.

We are looking for a highly motivated and proactive engineer who can adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced working environment, work independently, and has a strong interest in and knowledge of the military aviation and defense industries.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aircraft Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering,
  • Preferably, a Master’s degree in one of the relevant engineering fields,
  • Strong knowledge of flight mechanics, aerodynamics, flight dynamics, propulsion systems, and flight control,
  • Strong mathematical and physics background,
  • Knowledge of aircraft design and CAD tools such as SolidWorks and CATIA,
  • Knowledge of CFD and aerodynamic analysis tools such as ANSYS Fluent, XFLR5, and AVL,
  • Strong interest in aircraft conceptual design and development processes,
  • Advanced proficiency in at least one scientific programming language,
  • Strong interest in the aviation and defense industries,
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team,
  • Advanced level of English proficiency,
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and goal-oriented working style,
  • Ability to adapt to a demanding and fast-paced work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Take an active role in aircraft conceptual design and detailed design of structural, mechanical, and ground-support systems,
  • Perform aircraft configuration design and preliminary performance calculations,
  • Define mission requirements, operational concepts, performance requirements, and weight requirements for conceptual aircraft,
  • Develop and evaluate alternative aircraft configurations and perform trade-off and optimization studies,

  • Design aircraft systems and components such as control surfaces, landing gear, separation mechanisms, and launch/ejection mechanisms,
  • Perform aircraft weight estimation and weight management throughout the design process,
  • Obtain fundamental aerodynamic parameters of conceptual aircraft using aircraft modeling and CFD analysis methods,
  • Develop, validate, and improve aircraft flight mechanics analysis methods,
  • Develop stability and control analysis tools and methodologies for aircraft under R&D and product development programs,
  • Conduct stability, control, and trim analyses and support the development of appropriate control strategies,
  • Analyze aircraft flight-test data and investigate anomalies and special cases observed during testing,
  • Participate in field and flight test activities and support the analysis of test results,
  • Develop and maintain software tools and computational methods required for aircraft design, flight mechanics, aerodynamic, and performance analyses,
  • Support multidisciplinary teams in areas such as flight analysis, performance calculations, aerodynamics, flight control, and aircraft design,
